Next Step began because buying a good bag in Pakistan was harder than it should be. Either you paid a great deal for a name, or you took a chance on a photograph and hoped the stitching held.
How we choose
A small number, chosen slowly
We import a limited run each season rather than a catalogue. Every shape is ordered as a sample first and carried around for a week — loaded with a laptop, taken out in the rain, left standing empty to see whether it slumps.
Most of what we look at does not make it. What does is the reason a bag here costs what it costs, and why we are comfortable letting you open the parcel and inspect it before any money changes hands.
